Mrs. Sheila Neinavaie, a member of the Iranian American Community of Northern California was the first speaker of the event on Saturday August 29, 2015, at International House of University of California at Berkeley. A political prisoner who arrested in 1980, at the age of 15 for supporting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, Sheila spent 8 years in different prisons, including the notorious Evin Prison; Sheila is a survivor of, and witness to the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran.

As the Nuclear negotiations continue to take center stage, the alarming increase in executions and maltreatment of political prisoners and the crackdown on any type of social dissent is cause for concern.

Ironically, these days coincide with the 27the anniversary of the 1988 massacre of over 30,000 political prisoners in Iran

Please join us on Saturday August 29th as our panelists will commemorate victims of the 1988 massacre and discuss the current issues related to Iran Nuclear Deal and the worsening human rights situation in Iran.

Panelists:

Ambassador-Linclon-Bloombield Ambassador Lincoln P. Bloomfield, Jr. – Was Special Envoy for MANPADS Threat Reduction from 2008–09. He was Assistant Secretary of State for Political Military Affairs as well as Special Representative of the President and Secretary of State for Humanitarian Mine Action from 2001–2005. He served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs (1992–93), Deputy Assistant to the Vice President for National Security Affairs (1991–02), and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs (1988–89). He is Chairman of the Stimson Center in Washington, DC, President of Palmer Coates LLC, and non-attorney Consultant to Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.

Dr. Shahin Toutounchi – Is a member of Iranian-American community of Northern California. As a supporter of National Council of Resistance of Iran, he has been active in promoting a non-nuclear, democratic and secular alternative to the clerical regime in Iran. He has over 25 years of technical and managerial experience in Silicon Valley. Dr Toutounchi holds a PhD degree in Physics.

Mrs. Sheila Neinavaie – Was arrested in 1980, at the age of 15 for supporting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran; Spent 8 years in different prisons, including the notorious Evin Prison; Survivor of, and witness to the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran. Has lived in Northern California since 2009, actively promoting the case of political prisoners in Iran; Member of Iranian American Community of Northern California.
